Knowing our roots, our Church history, is vital for understanding our faith, its stories, and the God who loves us.  Events can inspired us while others have happened in our background that are difficult to understand.  Knowing our circumstances gives us perspective for today's decisions and discussions.

When we understand the past, we understand ourselves.

Learn something new in our history this year.  Here are some ideas:

How did the Greeks influence the early church?
On the surface, men shaped the church but there are a huge number of influential women in our history.  Dig into the female side of the church.
How did our faith spread in America?
What were some of the spiritual practices of Christian "giants?"
Who from the 20th centruy would you like to know better?

One resource that I thoroughly enjoy is the magazine, Christian History and Biography (www.christianitytoday.com/history)

Happy digging deeper!
